Jeep Designers Turn to eBay for Custom Features

It appears that Jeep enthusiasts looking for a deal on some of those hard-to-find Jeep parts aren’t the only ones who turn to eBay.

The Jeep team also finds the online source helpful when engineering and designing vehicles like those featured at the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, according to an Automotive News report. Although most of the parts and accessories come from Mopar, there are times when Jeep takes a far less traditional approach to designing and engineering some of those cool SUVs.

Take for example, the Jeep Chief Concept, shown above, which features a 20-foot military-style antenna and retro lamps purchased from eBay. Although some of the other features, like the Chief’s surf-themed milled 20-slot grille, were hand made.

Still, it makes me wonder if it’d be possible to do almost a complete custom Jeep build from parts and accessories purchased on eBay. And better yet, would it be able to hold up to the standards that come with being capable of handling Moab?
