According to Left Lane News, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is planning to establish a Jeep production line in India. Jeep will invest $280 million on a joint project with Tata Motors Limited, the company that now owns Jaguar/Land Rover. The investment will go to establishing a fully independent Jeep production line at Fiat’s existing factory with Tata.

“Today marks an important step as we continue to expand the availability of Jeep products around the world. Establishing Jeep production in India will give us the opportunity to offer even more people the chance to experience the freedom and adventure that can come from behind the wheel of a Jeep vehicle,” said FCA CEO, Sergio Marchionne.

Right now, this factory will only serve India and other parts of Asia in terms of units built. Jeep had begun building it’s dealership network about two years ago inside India, but delays have pushed it back until now.

What do you guys think of the rest of the world getting Jeeps? Will it dilute the brand, or will it give a healthy dose of ‘Murica to the rest of the world?
