There seems to be no escaping the wrath of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which makes you wonder if the group is now just looking to shake all the heat it came under last year for dragging its feet on recalls.

Regardless, anything and everything tied to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) seems to be in the crosshairs now, including Harman Kardon, the company that supplies the infotainment systems in Jeeps and all of FCA’s other vehicles, according to a News Y report.

At this point, it’s all simply being called an investigation into 2.8 million infotainment systems to see if they could be subject to the same kind of tampering that led to a Cherokee being hacked, as covered here.

Fiat Chrysler has been busy working to get the issue resolved as well by issuing a recall of 1.4 million vehicles and adding additional security measures to the system.
