If you own a 2015 or 2016 model Grand Cherokee, then you might be need to get that Jeep to a dealership for a checkup.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recently announced that it is recalling a few hundred models of the SUV, along with several hundred Dodge Durangos of the same model years, due to a faulty brake caliper. Apparently, the caliper was made with the wrong material, which puts the part in jeopardy of cracking and increases the chances of a crash, according to an Auto Week report.

Altogether, a total of 14,768 Grand Cherokees and Durangos are being recalled because of the issue. All of the affected SUVs were manufactured from December 9, 2015 through January 14, 2016.

FCA is expected to start issuing official recall notices soon. And of course, all associated fixes will be done free of charge at local dealerships. For more info, Jeep owners are encouraged to contact FCA at (800) 853-1403 and use the recall code S16.
