Remember that Jeep Super Bowl ad, “Beautiful Lands,” featuring the new Renegade on the road with images of different countries around the world, all set to the tune of “This Land Is Your Land”? It’s the one that stirred up some debate over whether the ad should’ve included countries outside of the good ol’ U.S. of A. Check it out below, if you need a refresher.

Well, it’s crystal clear now that the ad was a pretty good indication of where Jeep’s headed, in more ways than one. Although, I’m not quite sure how well this new “global” idea for Jeep is fairing with the brand’s core American buyers.

Either way, the wheels are well in motion now.

Coming on the heels of the announcement that a new Jeep will arrive in India in 2017, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced that it has entered a partnership with Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) to build and sell Jeeps in China, as reported by Autoevolution.

The Jeep Cherokee will be the first model to be built under the new pact, set to begin production by the end of this year. But look for two more China-produced Jeep models to roll out next year as part of the agreement.

Now, it all really should come as no big surprise. Jeep’s been talking about the need to expand globally for quite some time, long before Super Bowl Sunday.
