I sincerely hope I’m not the only one excited for the Jeep/FIAT collaboration that is set to hit our shores very soon. Right? Everyone is as excited about the Renegade as me? Well, if you’re not, then boooo. If you are, we still have some waiting to do until it gets launched here, but that’s not stopping Jeep and Fiat from setting the debut of the car in Europe and detailing what the rugged little vehicle will be offering.

First up, the date. The Jeep Renegade is set to debut in showrooms in the fourth quarter of this year. So figure around October or November. It will have a 9-speed automatic that has a rear-axle disconnect like in the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, where the rear diff will only lock up when needed to conserve fuel.

There will be a total of 12 powertrains for the European market including two Multiair2 gas engines, two diesels, a higher-output gas engine, and the choice between two manuals, a DCT and an automatic. It also will have all the fun little settings to throw the car into when the pavement ends and the rocks and sand begin.

If we take a few of the engine choices out, such as the diesels, we get a pretty good look at what we will probably be getting soon after it’s launched overseas. I personally can’t wait. It looks to be like a cracking bit of fun. Sure, it’s no Wrangler Rubicon, but this little thing will be a pretty good performer compared with its bigger brothers.
