When Chrysler became part of FCA, it somehow went from terrible cars you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy to making leaps and bounds past almost everyone with whom it competes. The leaps and bounds continue as Jeep just surpassed Hyundai as the fifth-best-selling car company in the U.S.

Over the last few years, the entire Chrysler Group has seen year-over-year sales gains. Jeep’s sales alone were up another 52 percent over last year throughout the company’s entire lineup, with the Cherokee and Wrangler hitting the top spots.

This is partly due to Jeep and FCA making a concerted effort toward enhancing not only the brand’s public appearance, but also transforming the entire lineup’s quality. Every new Jeep I’ve sat in lately has been miles better than any of the Jeep vehicles I remember driving years ago. There’s more of a sense of pride now within the brand than there was even a few years ago. Not only are the interiors better in every way, but the amount of technology and robust engineering that go into each Jeep has made the company a powerhouse among its competitors.

With sales figures that continue to boom, Jeep may be in for a world of hurt if those numbers start to diminish, such as when the Cherokee gets to the middle of its cycle. However, with the new Renegade getting ready to hit showrooms soon, and the introduction of the next Wrangler set to debut sometime in the near future, the odds are with Jeep to continue this meteoric rise.
