One million baby! That’s how many units Jeep sold in 2014 worldwide, further proving that the road to the brand’s global domination is now fully paved.

2014 marks the first time in Jeep history that the brand has sold more than one million units, with the exact number being 1.02 million SUVS globally, according to an official Fiat Chrysler Automobiles press release. Compared to 2013, that’s a nearly 40 percent increase.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit

The Cherokee is credited with being one of the biggest reasons Jeep was able to break such a high sales record last year. All together, the company sold a total of 236,289 of the compact SUVs around the world, which included 178,508 sold in the U.S. market. Even the Wrangler and outgoing Compass and Patriot posted their best ever U.S. sales.

Overall, Jeep sales were up 42 percent in the Asia-Pacific region, 49 percent in China, and 40 percent in Europe.

Next up: The new Renegade. I’m predicting it will kick Jeep’s push for global domination into overdrive, ensuring that the brand is one of the most recognized in the world.
