A war veteran and Jeep enthusiast in Kansas is took an entirely different approach to Halloween.

Instead of offering kids something like a scary hayride, Bob Sines leveraged his passion for Jeeps to organize a convoy of war models for the annual Hiawatha Halloween Frolic Parade. The goal was to help area youth understand the importance of honoring our war veterans.

“I want to build awareness with the youth,” said Sines, according to News-Press Now. “A lot are involved in the Halloween parade, and this sends a message to honor the veterans who made freedom possible for them.”

Given Sines ties to Jeep, it probably came as no surprise to most in the small Kansas town that he spearheaded the Jeep convoy in the parade. His personal Jeep is a M38 A1 Willys 1952 Army Jeep. Sines also worked with the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA), which counts a number of Jeeps as part of its collection.
