Jeep and 3M Joining to Create Those Hood Decals You Love
Something more than just seven-slatted rigs emerged from this year’s Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. The idea for a custom map decal to be installed on the hoods of the legendary off-roaders arose from the dirt and rocks.
At the event, Jeep received a favorable response to one of its Mopar-developed vehicles wearing a map of a well-known Moab trail up front, according to Pietro Gorlier, global head of the Mopar parts and service division. Now, you can go to mopar.com/jeephoods, pick your trail or location (within North America), and have your street and/or topographical map printed and sent to your dealer for installation.
The $295 decals are made to fit the hoods of 2007-15 Wranglers, 2014-15 Cherokees, and 2011-15 Grand Cherokees. Jim Roth, 3M’s global operations manager for original wraps, said they have a three-year warranty and can be expected to last three to five years. They come in only gray-and-black right now, but they may be available in full-color in the future.
