Is a Hybrid Wrangler Good Enough for You?

It sounds like talk has turned to action; future Wranglers will offer alternative powertrains. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has confirmed the next-gen Wrangler, scheduled to hit the market sometime in 2018, will also be offered with diesel and hybrid variants. The news came during an update from FCA on their five year plan, which includes goals aimed at meeting stricter fuel emissions standards in the U.S.

The next-gen Wrangler certainly wouldn’t be the first one equipped with an alternative powertrain. Diesel powered Wranglers are already being sold in other places, just not in the United States.

FCA isn’t providing any official timeline for the alternative powertrains, but the Toledo Blade is reporting there’s a document that indicates the hybrid version will arrive sometime after 2018, with the diesel model following sometime thereafter.

Determining from your enthusiasm surrounding last year’s unofficial diesel confirmation, we know you’re chomping at the bit to own a compression-ignited next-gen Wrangler, but what about a hybrid model? Is a hybrid Jeep Wrangler good enough for you?
