A Quick Take on Why the Two-Door JK Reigns Supreme

As a native of Toledo and the owner of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler, I make no bones about my love for Jeep. Never have and never will, even as an auto journalist who strives to remain as objective as possible when asked to weigh in on cars from a more critical perspective.

I guess you could say the Wrangler is my Achilles’ Heel of sorts; something I’ve had no problem owning up to here at JK-Forum on several occasions. Growing up around a vehicle that’s deeply woven into the social and economic fabric of one’s hometown tends to have that kind of effect on a person.

Not that anyone really needs to have an excuse for loving Wranglers. The passion for the vehicle runs pretty deep, even among those who don’t have a direct tie. However, over the past few years, I have found myself engaging in the debate over which is better — the Wrangler Unlimited or the more traditional two-door model. In fact, it’s something I’ve been considering even more amid the anticipated arrival of the next-generation Wrangler; the JL.

My opinion is that the two-door JK will always hold a bit more nostalgic value than the Unlimited model. And while I’m sure there are more than a few here who would beg to differ, this gallery I pulled together of a two-door Sarge Green 75th Anniversary Wrangler I recently wheeled around Toledo, certainly makes it harder to dispute the claim.
