This 1982 Jeep Cherokee Is the Best of Both Worlds

There was a time when you could have your cake and eat it too. By that I mean that you could have the size and comfort of a Cherokee, with the prowess and two-door style of the Wrangler. These Cherokees are known as the “SJ two-door,” and this particular year model was the last of its kind.

Listed in the Rockford, Illinois area Craigslist is this 1982 Jeep Cherokee SJ two-door. It looks big, it looks mean, and it looks like you could own it for $7,500 bucks. While the ad is extremely brief, there’s plenty to see and know about this two-door beauty. Like the text, photos are limited, and primarily of the front three-quarter view and the seats.

Nonetheless, this larger-than-life Jeep seems to have been loved throughout the years. After all, it’s hard to believe that it was nearly 35 years ago that it rolled off the assembly line. For starters, the light and dark blue two-tone paint looks to be in good shape. Slight signs of wear and tear can be seen in some areas, but that’s to be expected.

As I mentioned before, there aren’t any exterior or interior photos of the rear end. That being said, the front bumper looks a little misaligned, and the grille has been blacked out. Besides those two items, this 1982 Jeep Cherokee looks like the real deal. Inside things are even better. The ad claims the interior is new, and it truly looks like it. Stock air-conditioning and an aftermarket stereo stand out as desirable options for daily drivers. Oh, and speaking of desirable, did I mention this two-door Jeep features a manual transmission?

The more we look at this 1982 Jeep Cherokee two-door, the more we think the $7,500 price tag is more than fair. Of course, we’ve yet to see the rear end, or driven it. If all those things were to check out properly, though, this bad boy could be a heck of a buy.
