Could the Red Rock Response Be the Next Jeep Pickup?

Jeep® Wrangler Red Rock Responder Concept

Looks like our speculation that Jeep might be revving up to launch a new pickup might be even closer than we imagined.

First we posted a story here, about how a new Jeep pickup seems like a done deal. And now Mike Manley is hinting that a new pickup could follow the next-gen Wrangler as a version of that SUV.

Speaking to USA Today, the Jeep CEO said the idea makes sense because pickups have long been a part of Jeep’s history and a top subject of discussion with Jeep customers. Manley’s discussion about the possibility of the new pickup came the same day Jeep unveiled the Wrangler Red Rock Responder Concept, shown above, as part of the brand’s Easter Jeep Safari line-up, which we covered here.

Of course, the Jeep CEO was pretty elusive about nailing down any specific timing on a pickup, which is to be expected. But he did seem to pretty much confirm, again, that one is on the way.

“We are going to give it the most appropriate time it takes to get the decision right,” he said, which for a top auto exec is about as good as you’re going to get until there’s an “official” announcement.
