Relive the Joys of Childhood With Tonka Die-Cast CJs
How do you get two grown men to stop everything they are doing, and start playing like children? Hand them a pair of die-cast Jeeps from Tonka.
Tonka sent me a pair of these CJ Jeeps so that I could check them out, maybe find some kids to play with them, and generally see how they looked and held up. Instead, me and a colleague ended up spending 30 minutes pushing them around the table, sliding them back and forth to each other, and generally just acting like seven-year-old buffoons.
It was hilarious and entertaining and exciting.
I could talk about the incredibly sturdy construction of the metal bodies, or the cool retro paint scheme, or even the way the big rubber tires and plastic fuel tanks look amazing, but that wouldn’t really explain the magic. There is just something intrinsically fun about pushing around a tiny version of the iconic CJ that puts a smile on your face. It makes you remember your youth, a time when the world was simpler.
Being a kid is more fun than anything, and pushing these two little Jeeps around reminded me what its like to be a kid again. Sometimes, when the world is closing in on you, and you are faced with deadlines, bills and other stresses, you just need a little mental nudge to push back to happier places and times. I got that from these two little cars.
