Chances are, if you own a Wrangler with a soft top, you’ve found yourself making a few sacrifices for the freedom to roll that top back and take in a little sun. Namely, the ability to load gear on the top of your Jeep.

Well, clearly someone has heard all the pleas coming from Wrangler owners, because the aftermarket company, Rugged Ridge, has come up with a contraption called the Exo-Top Roof Rack System as a viable solution for the issue.

Featured in a recent Four Wheeler report, the custom Jeep accessory is made of a sturdy steel tube cage with a soft top that will accommodate up to 300 pounds of gear on a Wrangler roof.

Patrick Bennett, who designed the Exo-Top, told Four Wheeler that the idea was inspired by few things including boats.

“…We really had to solved (sic) two major problems with soft tops: How do you move the top back and forth, and how to you not have lots of wind noise?” said Bennett. “The soft top’s slider system was inspired by the old VW topless systems I had seen, and we worked closely with Lakeside Canvas, a company that has decades of experience designing custom Bimini tops for boats, to develop the right material and design for our needs.”

Yup, something tells me this is guaranteed to be a hit.
