A Warning Light Always Makes You Cringe. It Doesn’t Matter When or Where or What Light, You Just Know That Something Isn’t Right

We all like to think of the JK as something that you can nearly drive into the ground and get away with it. The Wrangler is inherently tough and difficult to break, even under some of the harshest of circumstances. But as with any vehicle, things are going to break or break down. When that happens, duct tape shouldn’t be your only solution.

This week’s How-To Spotlight showcases an article that dives into one of the electrical gremlins that can pop up from time to time on the JK: the electronic throttle body. It’s an issue most frequently found in the 2007 to 2008 JK model.

The Electronic Stability Control, or ESC for short, is a standard feature in most cars and trucks these days. The ESC is a system that makes hundreds, if not thousands, of input adjustments to your car, without you ever being the wiser. It simply makes you a better driver. It is likely one of those things you take for granted, until you absolutely need it. Losing the ESC won’t make you a poor driver, but the car will stop doing you favors, and can then make it harder for you to control, particularly in poor driving conditions.

This week’s How-To article dives into reading the warning lights, as well being able to interpret those lights on your JK as they show up. Have you ever gone without the ESC on your Jeep? What was your experience? And would you make any recommendations to others?
