FCA CEO Defends Safety of Jeep Gas Tanks
There’s one huge takeaway in all the controversy surrounding the millions of Jeeps recalled for possible gas tank fires: Sergio Marchionne seems to be standing firmly behind the safety of the SUVs.
Of the 1.56 million vehicles tied to the recall of 2002-2007 Jeep Libertys and 1993-1998 Grand Cherokees, less than 10 percent of owners have responded to notifications.
Jeep has been hit with another recall in what now has become a standard mode of operation in the automobile industry. The latest one involves an occupant restraint control module that could short-circuit in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The possibility of the rear shocks detaching from the new Jeep Cherokee definitely warrants some major concern.
