This Woodless Grand Wagoneer Was Quite the Bargain

It kind of goes without saying that any Grand Wagoneer we stumble upon is well worth a shout out here at JK Forum.

And this ’87 SJ model, featured in a recent Jalopnik report, is no exception, especially given the relatively good condition of the Jeep and the low asking price of $4,250. Which probably explains why the Craigslist post for the Jeep is no longer up.

That and the fact that it’s actually one of the last of the great AMC Wagoneers, which gives it some nostalgic appeal, as well.

The engine, however, was a bit of a mystery, since the ad noted it as an AMC 401, but it’s more likely a 360 V8 option, as Jalopnik points out. Not that it really taints our view of the Jeep. With a collectible like this, that’s pretty much a nonissue, as long as it fires up and runs.

The owner also claimed to have put $5,000 into the Jeep. And although it tends to be tough to prove those kind of claims without actual receipts, it’s pretty clear that the Wagoneer has been well kept.

Of course, some might take issue with the fact that the Wagoneer doesn’t have the iconic wood. But there’s also something cool about the cleaner take on Jeep, which again probably explains why it’s no longer for sale.
