How-To Tuesday: Driveshaft Installation

driveshaft fail

In case you were not aware, the above pictured driveshaft should not look like that. I repeat, if your driveshaft looks like a poorly formed birthday candle, it has failed. My hope is that your birthday is right around the corner and you might get a new driveshaft as a gift. Let’s hope that’s the case, as it will give you another reason to read through this week’s How-To Tuesday article.

This week’s article is all about helping you replace the driveshaft in your JK, both front and rear. I’ll be the first to admit it, this week’s article is intimidating to me. I am in no way considered an experienced mechanic, far from it. I feel that I could potentially take on many of the weekend projects that we work to help you with here. This week’s? Not so much.

Thankfully you are likely smarter than me and this type of project doesn’t phase you at all. Maybe this is a project that you’ve been wanting to take on for some time, and you were just looking for some direction and guidance to help get you started and keep you on the right track. That’s what I figured you would say. If so, this week’s How-To Tuesday article does a great job of providing you with a legit step-by-step guide for the project. There is even a great video that you can reference as well.

How many of you have completed this project at home? Any advice you would care to offer our fine community? Anything that you learned that you wouldn’t do again? Let us know!
