My, oh my, has the Internet been talking about this one. Lets not make any claims on what this makes for power, because there’s much dispute over that, as well as how the numbers add up when going down the strip. So, what happens if you’ve been given an over-optimistic number off the dyno? You land on 1320video, of course. Weighing 3100 pounds and making nearly 700 hp should have this Willys running very quick, but somehow the numbers just don’t add up.

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but it just doesn’t seem like this makes sense. With nearly 700 hp and 800 lb/ft, something doesn’t compute. A trap speed of 135 mph should be way higher, given the power numbers. Some have claimed that gearing is to blame, but why spend that much time on the rest of a vehicle and not pay attention to gearing? At 3100 pounds, our estimate is that it’s making closer to 450 horsepower.

So what do you think? Is this Willys a powerhouse, or is it just putting its power down in the wrong way?
