JK Recall
#22
I had the recall completed on mine about three weeks ago. The dealership where I'm at in Savannah, GA was only able to order two per week due to back orders. So it took a little while to come in. Additionally it is slated in the system as a 2-3 hour job but took every bit of 8 to complete. Just a heads up.

Had to call customer service to file a complaint. During the discussion I was told that there is a recall (N-28). No letters to jeep owners have been sent a letter pertaining to this recall because apparently Jeep doesn't even have the parts made to correct it. It is where the Transmission cooler line can rub against the Power Steering line. This rubbing back and forth can cause a hole to start in the Tranny line and your tranny fluid can start leaking. If not caught soon enough you will lose all the tranny fluid. Additionally, the power steering line can rub against the tranny line and over a period of time you will have no steering fluid. "Or words to that effect. The woman I spoke with said that as long as she has worked there, this recall notice was the most vague notice she had read. When I asked her if the letter states we can continue to drive our jeeps, she said nothing was mentioned about that. However she did say tha it was up to each individual until the dealers get the proper parts to fix it. So don't have a clue as to what a guy should do. If you have "two"lines rubbing against each other, how can you tell that the transmission line will be the first to leak??? Because I had called to file a formal complaint, after she took that info is when she brought up the recall notice. She said that (for some reason) she was typing my name is as we spoke so I would be the first to have the parts send to my dealer. Believe that when I see it happening. About three weeks ago I noticed seven very small oil spots on my shop floor. Couldn't find out where they were coming from so took it to the dealer. They said they checked everything over and couldn't find anything that was or had leaked. So when I got this information about the recall, I immediately crawled under the jeep and thoroughly checked everything I could and found nothing except two of the rear differential bolts were not torqued to specs. I had the dealer double checked them after I installed frot and rear ARB differential covers. Didn't trust my torque wrench. Was informed that it may take quite awhile for Jeep to get the recall letter out and perhaps longer to get the parts to repair the problem.

those aren't the lines in question. They are along the frame rail. Aluminum lines. Just call the dealer, give them your vin, they will tell you if yours needs attention.

Crysler's Extended Warranty isnt worth a S*** just being 300 miles over the 70.000 mi
as for the letters, you are incorrect. I received my letter in September, went on the waiting list and it was done in November. I will also mention, my lines weren't even touching, they replaced them anyway. The dealers were provided 1 kit per week. The dealer that did mine is one of Colorado largest (volume) Jeep Wrngler dealers. They have replaced just under 2 dozen and they have seen a slight dip in the number of calls. Not all vehicles were affected. Just early on JKs.
So I called customer service and they told me there is nothing they can do for me because I dont come in enough for service. Well...since the 3.8 likes to eat all the oil, whats the point of a dealership oil change when by the time its due for one, I already put 5 quarts in. I just change the filter!
I sent a professional and respectful email to the Crysler's CEO...waiting to see what comes of that. I hope there is a Crysler rep that looks at this forum. I never bitched about the oil issue...but I'm certainly complaining about this one.

So get this...I never received a letter. Perhaps being the second owner of the Jeep, yet buying it from a Jeep dealership. The line is apparently leaking enough for me to see a sizable puddle under the front axle area. I called the local Springfield, MA dealership only to find out that I am out of the extended warranty period on my 08' by 300 miles!!!!! So I called customer service and they told me there is nothing they can do for me because I dont come in enough for service. Clarification
I was just referring to the leaking transmission line. The oil consumption issue is something totally different that i have come to terms with.
