I guess if you don't have any hills around your house you would be okay. I have a 2011 Unlimited with a 6 speed (6700 miles), factory 3.73s, and 33" Nitto trials and I can tell you without a DOUBT it SUCKS! On a small to moderate hill by myself (6'3" 252lbs) I need to downshift to forth just to maintain 55 mph sometimes down to 3rd for any kind of torque. I do believe this mini van motor produces it's max around 5k, matter of fact I think I have more horses in my sthil weed wacker...I plan on re-gearing as soon as I can find a reputable shop and more money. Just my FWIW.... good luck

2012+ are different animals. I have 3.21's and 35's on mine and I can hold 5th gear up hills all day around 60-65, right around 2100 rpms. Real steep hills may require 4th tho

I have a 2012 with a auto running 33 12.50 15 and it runs on the highway in four all the time at 75-80 I can manually put in 5th but 500yards and were back in fourth and 8-10 Mpg Idk I just got some 37" and I'm looking in to gears. May go with 4.88-5.13 because the 3.6 is night and day on the 3.8

Im running on 35's, and also have. 12 2dr soft top. The 3.21's are useless and i barely can use 5th and 6th gear.. My Jeep goes to the DR next week for lockers and 4.88's. The 321's do ok off road in 4l, but regearing will be a lot of help.

My '12 came with 3.21's, and it was great for the on road stuff, but was heavily lacking offroad.. Which only got worse for me when I went to 35's.

After that, I couldn't use 6th unless going down hill, and sometimes couldn't even use 5th(if the wind was sufficiently blowing against my direction of travel)

Moved up to 5.13s, although tbh, I think I would have liked 4.88s just fine. It would be a little bit less torque-y, giving it better road manners, and be just as good offroad. Just my 2 cents.
