So bummed to get my first Jeep, my first permit for the beach, hi lift jack, fishing gear, air, shovel, all ready to go and roll up the Gilgo a few weeks ago to see the signs saying it is CLOSED INDEFINITELY due to erosion.

Ugh. Website still says the same, so I'm assuming it's not open yet?

Real bummer. What's a preferred backup for someone like me in Nassau County?

Your best bet is probably Robert Moses outer beach. You can even stay overnight there if you're fishing

Didn't realize this even existed -- I thought Gilgo was the only one nearby.

Based on some quick online reading it looks like my same permit is good for Robert Moses. Where is this "outer beach"?

As for beaches near me, the permit says it is value for:

Robert Moses (Democrat Point, Sore Thumb and Gilgo),

Are Democrat Point or Sore Thumb the "outer beach" you're talking about? (I don't know where those are either...)
Or is it something else?

Thanks!

Found this online -- would have been nice if they'd given me a copy when I got my permit!
