TFT Moab Pilgrimage - April 15, 2014
We are proud to announce that Topless for TATAs will be hosting a trail run in Moab this year! This is a first for TFT and we couldn't be happier.

This invite only event will gather some of our event supporters along with TFT sponsors for an amazing day on Metal Masher. The best part of this pilgrimage is if you are in Moab for EJS this year and if selected this is a NO COST event to you.

How do you become an invited guest and how many will be joining us?
Topless for TATAs will invite 10 randomly selected guests to participate. Sponsors will be on hand with their rigs and guests to make up the remaining 25 vehicles for a total of 35. Be sure to read the vehicle requirements below to ensure you meet all the mandatory requirements for this run.

What are the vehicle requirements for the event?
1. Lockers, Front and Rear
2. 35″ Minimum Tire Size
3. Must carry a Fire Extinguisher and a First Aid Kit
4. Working CB Radio
5. Winch and recovery points
6. Working E-brake

All the above are mandatory requirements, but don’t get discouraged if you don’t meet all of them, there is still a chance. As long as you have ALL THE ABOVE the day of the Topless for TATAs (TFT) Moab Pilgrimage you can still submit your email application. When you sign up, please don’t forget to mention if selected you will meet all the mandatory sign up requirements.

With just over 2 months to go don't delay and submit your email application!

How to apply?
Your email application must contain the following information.

First Name
Last Name
Vehicle Year
Vehicle Make
Vehicle Model
Vehicle Color
Home State
Cell Phone
Email

Please submit your email application, list of modifications and a picture of your rig to contact@toplessfortatas.com in order to be considered for the event. If you post in the thread and not send an email you will not be considered to join us. The picture(s) submitted will be used to announce that you will be joining us on this pilgrimage and will be posted on Facebook and various forums and venues. All applications must be received by April 1st.

After you submit your information, what is the next step?
All entries will be reviewed equally and must meet the vehicle requirements. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the event and any costs you may incur for or during this event. All sponsors and invited guests and their participants will be asked to sign an event waiver (liability) as well as release waiver for the photos and video taken of all participants during the event.

You will be notified via email if you have been selected to join us.

Metal Masher the Trail

Metal Masher, Trail Rating 7
A major trail goal is Arth's Rim, which overlooks Highway 191 about 1300 feet below. The route first angles up the sloping part of the cliff to a gap in the rim rock. It follows Little Canyon partway into the mesa to resume the climb along the more gentle slope of the tilted rock strata. Much of the trail is routine four-wheeling, but the approach to the rim through Mirror Gulch is difficult and threatens sheet metal.

Widowmaker Hill could be considered an "8" rating, your leader is likely to take the roundabout bypass to the top of Widowmaker, but he may authorize the original route for vehicles that have very short overhangs, very large tires, both differentials locked. In the past, it has simply taken too much time to winch or drag 90% of the vehicles up.

Scenery
The road portion on the slope beneath Arth's Rim climbs to increasingly fine views of Arches National Park, Moab Valley, and the La Sal Mountains. That is just a warm-up for the later perch on the cliff top. Little Canyon has beautiful vertical walls, and a few arches may be spotted by alert riders. The trail leader may have time to include Gemini Bridges or Long Canyon at the end of the day.

Surface
This trail varies from easy dirt to some tall sandstone ledges, with some relatively level slickrock and sand mixed in.

Trail Details
The trail starts toward the slickrock slopes on the way to Arth's Rim at a marked sign in Arth's Pasture. It initially drops into a small wash and then climbs out again to begins the climb to the rim. A broken, rocky section with occasional shelves is next, with one step that will warm up a few tires. The trip then gets up on some smooth slickrock where route finding can be difficult, rock cairns and paint marks offer some assistance, but losing the route here is pretty easy.Near the rim the trail passes Rock Chucker Hill, once the way to go but now used occasionally as a playground that triumphs over some awfully good equipment. The "easy" route through narrow Mirror Gulch includes difficult rock steps. Once out of Mirror Gulch another tough little climb awaits to try and alter some body panels. Misty's Thumb is an optional climb as the trail switchbacks to the rim. Once up to the rim, tremendous view of Arches National Park and the surrounding area spread out below. The trail heads north along the rim for a while, and then heads back down to Arth"s Pasture. Once at the pasture again, the route splits, one way to a bypass of Widowmaker Hill, the other to Widowmaker itself. Mostly these days the bypass is the route used. The original route via Widowmaker Hill climbs a big ridge in two stages. The lower section is a tippy, narrow cliff-side at its top and warrants care in choosing a route. The second section is steep and has a smooth rock ledge with a low-traction base that is being dug increasingly deeper. Trust your trail leader for guidance to avoid this one; it has the same overhang and center clearance problems as the Dump Bump but is now taller. There is another short, but vexing option called Mother-in-Law hill a little way past Widowmaker after both routes have reunited.

Staging
Staging area will be at Portal RV with the time to be determined.
