Rose Hill Garden, the Trail
This trail evolved from a longer trip that went up Cottonwood Canyon to visit sites on Sevenmile and Waring Mesas. Weather and travel took its toll, so now the trip has become a stand-alone full day trip just to reach and conquer the hill itself.

How best to explain the hill to an experienced 4 wheeler? Well, how often do you encounter a hill so mean you can get stuck going downhill? If you are familiar with that concept, then focus on the reality of first having to ascend this mean, long hill, then after lunch, having to descend this same hill. Lines change, and it becomes a new ball game going down.

Lots of stuff in Moab involves slickrock shelves that have solid bases, letting vehicles climb crazy steep angles. Very seldom is an ascent so strewn with very seriously sized rocks on loose soil that dictate the approaches to really tall exposed shelves. Still fewer trails feature so long an ascent. Lately nature has been adding some serious ruts caused by water drainage from several wet winters and springs.

The driver has to continually pick a good "line" up this nearly 1/2 mile hill. This usually results in a serpentine path as he/she ascends the hill, depending upon the vehicle's equipment/capabilities. Of course the type of vehicle, equipment, wheelbase, etc. all make the choice of options different along the way up, but the nastiness of the hill severely restricts the ability of a buddy to assist. Pick the wrong line, fail in an ascent, slide backwards, and you likely will end up with the rear end suspended on the huge rock you just twisted around to avoid. Need a short tug with a strap? Likely the guy in front can't get the right angle or traction enough to help much. It is not uncommon to have 4 vehicles stuck on this hill at the same time! Bring all your toys (High lift jacks, snatch straps, winches, etc.) and a few friends to help use them when you choose to run this trail.

Scenery
The road up Onion Creek offers scenery that seems straight out of a Disney theme park. The passenger is usually the beneficiary of this, however, as the driver is usually busy watching for oncoming traffic on the twisty road. The Top of the World overlook is directly above at one point. Fisher Valley offers a panoramic view of the LaSal Mountains, Fisher Mesa, North and South Beaver Mesas, Polar Mesa, Sevenmile Mesa, and Waring Mesa. The trail itself offers beautiful scenery in Cottonwood Canyon as it twists along the approach to Rose Garden, and then views down into Cottonwood once atop the hill itself.

Surface
Once off the paved surface of Utah 128, the Onion Creek county road can vary from graded dirt to four wheel drive bumpy depending upon recent storms and flooding. Once off the county road, the trail itself offers some dusty dirt sections at first, but then encounters some slickrock that features small shelves to add some bumpiness. Drainages off the nearby mesa top add constant change where they cross the trail, just as Rose Garden itself comes into view; some tough shelves may be encountered. Rose Garden Hill is a long, steep, rubbly hill with multiple partial shelves and large rock obstacles sprinkled in at numerous spots along the way.

Trail Details
Rose Garden Hill is the only real obstacle on this trip. There can be a couple challenging spots along the way to the hill if the winter was wet or if local rains have washed out sections of the trail. Rose Garden Hill itself has been getting worse every year, these days it is possible to high center a rig in several areas coming down the hill, so imagine what ascending these spots is like!

Staging
Staging area location and times will be sent to those who are selected.

You don't submit it on the forum. No one would ever ask you to publish your name and address on the forum for the whole world to see. There is an email address where you send your information and it's organized by Topless for Tatas, as you can see from the OP and the email address. This is a legitimate organized charity. I've met the charity founders in person and can vouch for their legitimacy, not to mention their dedication to the cause. If you haven't heard of Topless for Tatas, do some googling and look up videos on YouTube. So, don't worry about the trolls. If you want to apply, send your info to the email address like the directions say.

After reading the thread for the third time and the sticking part is:

I'm sorry, you are correct. I believe they have a registration via EventBrite, but I'm assuming they would also accept it via that email address. Try just emailing them and asking for a link to the application. Just didn't want you to think you were being trolled. That wasn't the case.

If you've ever attended one of the Topless for TATAs events on the East Coast or their 2014 Pilgrimage to Moab run at Metal Masher you know this is a can't miss event!

Ok so I must be a newbie at this signing up stuff so I had questions there is probably several others that do.

1. Click this link https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tft-moa...ts-19957813357

2. Sign in or Sign up, which I had to do.

3. Click on the green button get tickets. once in select registration which has a $0.00 cost and then select check out. This is where you will enter the appropriate information.

Once you have successfully completed the registration you will receive a confirmation number like this:
TFT.PNG

Hope this helps and good luck to the lucky 15 that get selected.
