Best 1911?
#2
I'm voting Kimber because I own one and it functions flawlessly and is accurate as all get out. Kimber's customer service is top shelf too, I have sent my gun back to them for work and they went way out of their way to accommodate my wishes.

I voted other. There are some very good choices and most would be very reliable and you also left off Sig. They make a very nice looking 1911, but I have not shot one.

I second that. I have a few friends with Kimber 1911s and heard nothing but good things about them.

Kimbers are nice guns but their quality control has gone downhill lately, possibly from trying to put out too much product. The thing to remember is all guns, especially the 1911's have their own personalities. You have to spend quality time with them, get to know them, and learn how to be effective with the gun you buy.
I just have a thing for Colts and Springfields.

I voted other. I've had 2 Kimbers in the past. One Warrior, and one 4" Tacticle carry 2. The Warrior was an early production model. It was very accurate and needed about 500 rounds to break in. I ended up selling it to get something else and still regret it. The second one was a piece of shit. Too many failure to feeds, and fail to ejects for me to trust my life to. The quality was also not even close to the Warrior. The plunger even fell out on the range. Both guns cost around $1250.00 depending on where you look. I ended up going back to an H&k P30L ( went to 9mm do to the price of ammo, I shoot alot ). I paid about $850.00 for it. 2000 rounds later, no malfunctions of any kind. I'm also sad to say that I don't clean it near as much as I should, but it doesn't care..... just keeps on pumping rounds out. You can't do that with a 1911, I don't care who makes it. If you still want a 1911, and don't wan't to spend a ton of cash. Check out the Rock Island Armory Tacticle .45. It runs $500.00 loaded. My brother in law has one and has never had a single problem. Not haten on the 1911, just think there are better options for the money.
