Why, Dear God, Why?

Can anybody give me a reason why you would do this to a 45 Willy's. I'm all for "making it your own", but shouldn't there be limitations? You have a look and tell me what you think.

Don't get me wrong fella's, it is VERY cool looking and all. I would love to take it for a test drive too. I'm just saying that it seems like a travesty to be able to take such an iconic vehicle and freak it out like that. Personally, if I found a 45 Willy's that was in good enough condition I'd go for the full restoration. But that's just me.
For example, there is a guy in my Jeep club who grew up with a 1965 CJ-3B (Below) that he fully restored. That's what I'm talking about.

I like it. There's a hod rod CJ that goes to the local shows. It has a big block chevy and a wine bottle for a coolant overflow tank. Different is good.
For the record: I hate the term "rat rod." if you set out to build a hot rod on a budget and it stays rusty and unpainted, fine. But to set out and build something to purposely look like it's been sitting in a field for years and mis-match parts for no reason other than "rat rods are trendy right now, you're an ass.
