Did a little cosmetic stuff today Started to bring some new life to the fenders and sway bar cover with our good friend plastidip. Starting to cover up some of the shot paint on the cowl too to see how it would turn out with a rattle can not the greatest so I think I need to sand and do some better prep work. Either that or just plastidip it too. Tomorrow going to take the hardtop off and plastidip that as well. Click image for larger version

The MML tilts the motor to drop the angle on the output of the tcase to avoid having to do the tcase drop (we lift to get the chassis off the ground then drop the tcase, seemed counterintuitive to me). I agree it works well with the body lift.

Please pass on the plastidip for her flares. I did mine with krylon fusion satin black and the pic tells the story- 200k miles and 12 years erased in an afternoon.

I also picked up some of the satin black too tonight I will try that on the other fender to see which I like better. I agree that it is funny how we raise it up to get belly clearance and then drop the t case to lose some of what we just did. The t case drop came with the lift.

Edit. The flares were already painted by someone before and where it got scratched I could see the gray primer underneath. Thinking the plastidip blends much better when has to be touched up. The wheels on my jk are done and it's going over a year now with no issues.

I've done the krylon on a couple TJ's now and was slated to do it on my most recent one but the flares got ditched before I got that far. I've used plastidip and it does stick but it leaves a stupid mess and overspray from hell. My opinion....but I think plastidip is the new bedliner that was the new chrome. I fell victim to the "oh, just bedline it" trap and regret it so I advise people to go with the trendy things with caution.

I'm a sucker for the TJ's though since I've brought a few of them back from the grave and gave them a second chance.

I am not a big fan of trendy stuff. Never liked chrome on any jeep ever. I like the plastidip because of the less prep work needed (I'm a 80's instant satisfaction kid) lol.
It works great to touch up my rock rails. Bumpers etc. And isn't picky and give you fish eye spots if you don't get all the oils etc. Off and get it perfectly clean like regular paint products do.

Got the hard top done, all the fender flares and redid the sway bar cover with satin black ( the plastidip didn't like to stay on that part. Sanded down and sprayed the cowl and windshield surround gloss black. Did the rear bumper and a bunch of the frame with satin black. My plan is to get the lift in on Thursday. Now just need to find some cheap 33's too

Are you going to shoot the headlight bezels too? One of my fav TJ's I had was the 00 in black with 2" and 29" sand tires. The plan was get to 33's but it never happened due to the terrible 4cyl. It had over 200k miles on it but a little bit of paint like you did and some serious rubbing compound, clay bar, and wax took virtually all of the water spots out of the paint.

That's a nice ride.
I didn't think about doing the bezels. Don't know if I will.
Half of the paint diagonal on the vehicle is good newer than the other half.
The bad half is shot crackled in places and faded bad elsewhere.
The detail guys at the dealer I work at have clayed it waxed it and everything else to get the paint back. It won't go.
It really needs a complete paint job but that has to wait. Just making it look as good as possible for now.
