Well this is my 98 XJ Sport. Got rid of my XK for this, which is going to be my ride until I buy a JKU later this year. 3" RE lift, and just installed some new shocks last night. Here's a picture of it when I was at work.

My poor XJ has had a rather hard life. She was my DD up until last year when I bought the JK, and for the past 8 years, she has been involved in SCCA RallyCross racing and been used as a Rally America Sweep recovery vehicle. She's been flopped onto her side, most of the body panels and doors don't quite line up anymore, the rear axle has been bashing the unibody rails hard enough to force both bumpstops up inside the rails, and the hood ended up so far out of whack that hoodpins had to be installed to keep it from flying open.

Buuuutt...I'll never get rid of it. Honestly it's kind of a death trap now and I could probably be convicted of crimes against humanity if I passed it on to some poor unknowing sucker anyway.

Damn brother, you and I have very differing opinions on what constitutes an "old beater". That thing looks great.

LOL! Thanks man! I was joking. I try to take care of my rigs. I believe in form AND function.

1998 XJ 2 door sport Grizzly Edition. Here she sits the morning after being broken into. I went through over 6000 pics on my computer and this is the best pic I've got. I figure the idiot broke one window to get in and broke the other to get out.
I haven't been able to find to much info on the Grizzly edition other than it was most likely a dealer option and was only available in Canada. I think it's just a loaded sport (power everything) with the Grizzly rims and running boards and a fancy decal on the tail gate. Please correct me if I'm wrong or enlighten me with some proper info.
This XJ has been my dd for 10+ years. Only mods include AT tires and sound system. Removed the running boards last summer after a night run beat the crap outta both of them.
It's been stolen and recovered twice and I've lost count of how many times it's been broken into and vandalized (north of 12 at least). It's never gotten stuck either. It just keeps on ticking.
Although she's still mine, she has become my wife's dd and she loves it. I still like to drive it every chance I get. Even after 10 years, it's a fun ride.
Currently, the paint on this XJ is in way better condition than my '12 rubi.

Default My old Cherokee

This was my first vehicle. It's a 1978 Cherokee Chief with an AMC 401. My father paid $700 for it back in '93. He put new 29" a month after he got it. Gave it to me when I turned 14 when I got my Motorcycle's license incase I needed it. Sat in the backyard for years.

The tires were 29" TSL Thornbirds that lasted 14 years, and still had tread after I scrapped it. Our Rottweilers pissed on the aluminum wheels so much they got chemically welded to the hubs, so I couldn't really get the wheels changed anyways. Thank God I never had a blowout, lol.

Got an amazing 8-12mpg on the highway.

The Spider gears in the Transfer Case had been welded together since we could never afford a new Quadratrac unit. It was full time 4x4 for the last 7 years of it's life. Hell of a time making a sharp U turn on dry pavement.

My radio was the sound of the tires on the pavement. Took the doors off. Took the rear gate off when the power window unit went out. Rubber gas filler line eventually rotted out so I had a make shift gas filler hose in the middle of my bed dropping straight into my gas tank.

I eventually removed the rear seat and installed a full size truck bed tool box there.

I installed a CB mount in the roof and flew my flags from there.

The choke on the carb didn't work quite right. So when it was super cold, I'd have to pop the hood and manually flick the choke lever while pumping gas and turning key. But it would always start up.

I loved being in it. The middle seat belt was the old military flip buckle type. When I was younger and it was cold outside, I would take my shoes off and put my feet on the center floorboard over the tranny since it was always super hot.

I remember one day my dad driving through a flooded road and the water was lapping up over the hood on the windshield while my mom's purse was floating in the floorboard because there was so many rust holes in the floor.
