Default Stock XJ Front bumper? Quick response please?

We are doing a mod on my friends stock Xj front bumper. there is a tank? mounted to the back of it on the passenger side. What is it? can we get rid of it? whats it for?

Sorry but no. It is the vacuum canister for the hvac and cruise. Just carefully pull the vacuum line back in the engine compartment and put the canister behind the fuse block. The is were I put mine when I installed the hanson bumper.

Yup, it's the vac canister. Have one on my XJ too.

I moved mine up behind the battery by shortening the vacuum line and screwing it into the fender. I can try to find you some pictures if you like.

I've had an XJ for almost 7 years now and have plenty of knowledge about them. If you ever have questions on anything else I'm sure I would be able to answer it for you. Post it up or shoot me a PM if you need anything.

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead however I just picked up a 2 door Xj today ( it a 98 ) and found this round plastic thing completely detached within my passenger side bumper , seems previous owner messed with it so he can get his walmart special fog lights which currently do not work. So my question is, do I need to run this device or get rid of it? If i must keep it how do I run it?
