2/10/11 Meter Radio Install
I am very happy with my new mobile setup. Here's the equipment:
10/11 Meter - CRE 8900
This is a neat radio. Small size and easily covers 10 and 11 meter. You can buy it now and its branded under Alinco. Antenna is on the swing gate. Firestik 4 foot flex.
2 Meter - Kenwood TM-281A
Great 2 meter single band radio. 65 watts for about $150. No 70CM but I am OK with that. For an antenna I use a Tram 1181 using a stainless steel bracket off the hood. Its really made for a CB antenna stud style antenna so I had to drill it out in order to fit the 3/4 NMO style.
Everything squeezes nicely in the center console.

I have the same Kenwood Radio. I like your set up! What kind of stainless steel bracket did you use? any brand? looks like it fits that lip at the hood perfectly.
Also, how do you like the Tram antenna?

Thanks!!! That bracket is very cool. You can buy it on Amazon.

Remember you need to drill out the hole from 3/8 to 3/4 if you want to use an NMO style antenna.
The tram antenna was just ok. I have since switched to a dedicated 2 meter 5/8 wave monoband antenna (Diamond M285SNMO). It's about 4 feet tall.
