Default 4WDX Mobile HAM Radio Club

Folks, I don't know if there's a great interest in this or not but it seems we do have a fair few HAMs amongst our ranks. We've got a call sign thread but it's not particularly helpful as it doesn't show who's interested in mobile HAM radio nor if they actually want to participate on an active level. To that end I've chucked together a blog where those who are interested in a mobile Jeep HAM club can put their names and call signs down and hopefully we can start making contacts via radio as well as the net. Like I said, if there's interest then great and the club can blossom, if not it's no sweat as the blog was just a few hours work.

For anyone interested in being part of a global HAM radio equipped 4x4 club then please take a peak and sign in here:

http://4wdx.com

If it works we can maybe ask for a forum here but until we know the level of interest I don't want to bother the guys here just yet.

Great looking site! While I've removed all my mobile HF gear from my Jeep as I just never found it to have satisfactory performance, I do still enjoy portable ops with my K3.

I do still have a 2m setup in the Jeep, of course. Again, very cool site!

I'm very interested, I just purchased a radio but don't have time yet to get licensed. Any mentors here in las vegas?

Check out www.arrl.org and look for the section on clubs. You can search for your area and pair up with a local club which can help to learn and test.

Thanks for that! Unfortunately for me, that looks US specific and I'm in the UK. This my local club.

Sorry, that was in response to the US gentleman looking for a local Elmer.

Ahh, right! That makes sense. My going senile in my early 40s is not helping...
