That's sounds like what I wanna try. Do you have pictures. I was thinking maybe on the sound bar by my head if I could keep it far enough away from swinging over and busting me in the scull.

I just clip mine to my AC vent louvers with the belt clip. I use the passenger middle one, because I have a manual. The antenna plug is in the console, so I plug everything in there.

I just ordered my Midland, 4' fire stick, spring, and cable today. Any input on how and where you ran your cable would be helpful. I've never had a cb before, what do I need to know? I have the Terraflex tire carrier hi lift holder and there is a cb antennae mount built in to that.

I have the same teraflex hi-lift accessory with the antenna mount. Be sure to remove the powder coat on the underside of the mount where the antenna stud makes contact with it on the bottom side. The nylon washer should go above the mount to isolate the antenna. I was prepared to run an additional grounding strap, but after tuning my 3' Firestik Firefly, I had good SWR readings (1.3 or lower) and my range is excellent so I haven't added any additional grounding.

I ran the coax (18' for my JKU) from the antenna mount to the rubber grommet on the tailgate behind the spare, through the tailgate and then along the floorboard and terminated it at the panel below the glovebox with a PL-259 connector. I can then screw the cb into this connector when I need to use it.

In hindsight, I might have mouted the connector a little higher on the panel so it's pointing more straight out instead of downward, but it works. As mentioned in one of the previous posts, I will also run the audio cable that's shown in the pic to the cb so I can get sound through the jeep's speakers.

So I want to make sure I have everything I need to do this right. So far I have ordered the Midland 75-822, antenna, 18' coax cable, and spring. I'm about to order a swr meter and 3' jumper coaxial cable. What else will I need to get the cb working right? I'm still not sure what I will hang it from while connected, any ideas for a 2014 JKU?

Two questions:
1. Was the PL-259 connector already on the coax cable to screw the cb into or did you have to connect it to the end somehow?
2. What audio cable are you using? I would like to order one, just want to order the right thing.

You need an antenna mount too it sounds like. Then make sure you have a good ground. I have still yet to have time to mount mine and am not sure where I want to mount it....

This is the audio cable I use: Amazon.com: StarTech.com MU3MMSRA 3 feet Slim 3.5mm to Right Angle Stereo Audio Cable - M/M: Electronics

You can order different lengths. I use a 3 ft. which is a good length for me because I run it to a phone mount close to the steering wheel when I'm not using it with the cb. I like the right angle connector but you can order it with a straight or right-angle on either end.

This is the antenna stud I use: Amazon.com: STUD W/SO-239 CONN: Electronics

Make sure you mount it exactly per the diagram and remove the powder coat as shown here:

I had a little trouble finding the PL-259 connector. I found it on e-bay, but it took the slow boat over from China. I think it took something like 3 weeks to arrive: UHF Female SO239 to UHF Male PL259 with 4 Holes Flange RF Coax Adapter Connector | eBay

It has an SO-239 female side and a PL-259 male side. I drilled a hole in the panel and then attached it to the panel with 4 screws and the coax connects to the SO-239 side in the back. When I want to use the CB, I just connect it to the PL-259 side of the connector.

Take a look at this thread. ( CB antenna mounted in license plate holder.)
t's has a nice mount solution that another member shared. I think it's the way I'm going... Mounts to third brake light.
