Default CB install help!!

Well last night didn't end so hot...
Here's a little background on how I installed it:

I used 12guage wire to connect the cobra 29lt wires to the positive battery terminal and ground. (Is it ok to use 12 gauge wire with the stock cobra wire size?)

Connected all of my wiring and...no power. Decided to connect it directly, not using the 12 gauge and still no connection... I checked the fuse and noticed it was blown(no burn mark or anything just looked like the filament was cut).

I reconnected the 12 gauge and decided to wait I'll tomorrow to get a new fuse.

Is the reason why it won't turn on strictly because the fuse was blown/broken? Or is there a bigger problem with my wiring.

Thanks for the help!

If the fuse is blown, you aren't going to get power

I know that. What I'm asking is if the 12 guage caused it to blow, or if it's possible it was just a bad fuse

could be a bad fuse. i dont see any reason why 12 guage wire would cause it to blow. replace the fuse and try it again and see what happens.

12 gauge wouldn't hurt anything. Overkill, for sure, but it's only going to carry as much current as your CB asks for.

One thing that happened to me when I installed my CB is that the wire I purchased came with a 2A fuse, but my CB draws 3A. So I blew several fuses, thought I had a short, rewired everything, and then found out I used the wrong fuse.
