Default Cb mounting locations with sPOD

My current set up is a cobra 75, which has done ok but I'm looking for something with more features and power. I've been eyeballing the Bearcat 880 and 980. Anyhow, I also have a sPOD so a traditional over head mount won't work. Not trying to side mount it or hide it in the console. I hope for some type of factory look, maybe even flush mount. My jeep is a 2014 manual with the large touch screen radio. I've searched the web for hours and not found anything. Help!!!!!!!

Can't confirm but I found this post suggesting it might work with the Arizona Rocky Road mount.

As far as radios with more power or features, the 980 and 880 do have more features than a 75. They do not have much more power and are not easily modified to produce any perceptible distance increase.

This was my solution. It's worked out great so far. And I have the sPod mounted on the footman's loop above the rear view mirror.

It's funny you mention that. I continued to search after this post and read that the Cobra 29LX was a much better choice because the "tweaks" with the old tried and true 29 will still work with this one. I've actually decided the Cobra was the better choice as a result. Does it sound like i'm on track?

Here's a couple photos of my 2 meter radio install. Its somewhat out of view and not in the way of anyones feat or legs. i couldn't hear the radio so well, so i got that little Motorola speaker it fits perfect held in place with double stick tape. I wedged the speaker wire between the plastic to plug it in the radio.

Pull your glove box out and youll see the crossbar that i mounted the radio bracket to. Perfect fit.
Im thinking i might get a Cobra 29 and mount it right next to the 2 meter radio if it will fit.

Yes much better choice. I'd order it from Bell's with a standard tune up.

Don't overlook your antenna system, even the nicest radio won't get out with a crappy setup.

I'm thinking about taking the factory sound bar, removing the light and glassing the CB as high as I can into the sound bar facing forward. While it would be backwards I can see the channel in the mirror and or turn to look while stopped. Once everything is set I don't typically change anything anyway. Speaker would be close and it would be out of the way. I'd simply wire in new a new light for the overhead.

I agree with kmrtnsn. This mount looks almost factory, holds the radio well away from legs, allows the speaker to have its voice, and the base plate can accept a mount for either small or full sized radios. Two thumb screws allow easy removal of the radio when you don't need it, or easy swapping between a CB and a Ham radio.
