CB power source

You can also get a wiring harness that plugs into the back of your power outlet in console, wire the cb leads to that and it will shut off when the key is off. Got mine at quadratec but I'm sure you can get it elsewhere

Depending on what cb you have (3 pin or 2 pin power) you can either wire it straight to a cigarette lighter plug so that it is removable, or wire a 3-pin harness to the same plug.
I did that and was happy with it while I had my small midland. Once I upgraded to a cobra 29 Lx classic, I wired it to the battery. Freed up my outlet, and as long as I turn it off, it won't kill the battery.
One thing to consider is alternator noise when wiring to the battery. Does your cb have noise canceling abilities? Mine cancels a TON of noise and it's actually fairly quiet.

You can do it however you want, I have had mine wired directly to the battery, through the cigarette outlet and even to a dedicated battery within the cab that was also charged either from the vehicle secondary electrical system or a solar panel. The later was to keep the electrical systems separate.
