Default Cobra 75 WX ST Install

This is how I installed a Cobra WX ST in my 2014 JK.

First a list of parts:
Cobra WX ST
2$ 12 volt plug for power from Wal-Mart
18 foot antenna cable
Terraflex spare tire carrier mount
Antenna mount (not sure what it's called the antenna and cable connect to it)
Antenna quick disconnect
3" firestick

Step 1 - Remove the spare tire, and the two top right bolts. They will be replaced with the ones from terraflex.

Step 4 - Connect the cable and run it through the roll bar. I left the hard top on which made the zipper really dissicuilt to get unzipped above the speaker bar. You may want to remove the hard top for this if you have one.

Note: I ran my cable through the trim on the back hatch which pops off easily from the bottom. I think it looks clraner.

Step 5 - Install the antenna

Step 6 - Install the cb base unit under the seat console or dash. You can run the antenna cable down from the roll bar along the passenger side trim without removing it. The panel to the right side of the dash pops off no screws needed. Also the glove box lifts out if you pinch the top back sides inward.

Finally wire to a 12 volt adapter as shown in the first pic, and your done.

Thanks for write up. Running the cable up by the roll bar seems better then the floor.

I hope you sanded/filed the paint from where you attached your antenna to the mount. If not, you're gonna have some SWR issues from a poor ground. Might as well detach the antenna and do it right- save your radio and make yourself more audible to your buddies on the trail.

Tailgate has no ground at least on 2008. You NEED to ground the tailgate or you will have problems.

Ill check for that. Wouldn't it ground through the metal hinges to the tub?

I run this setup and didn't sand/file anything. My SWR readings are 1.2 for ch. 1 and 1.3 for ch. 40....not too shabby. I run my cable along the floor under the carpet though, so no idea if that makes any difference. Just gotta make sure your ground is good and you're not coiling leftover coax cable. Not sure why you're sanding/filing anything.

When you say ground, are you referring to the antenna ground or the positive negative (ground) for power? I'm having issues

I think it depends on the cable if it's needed. I always make sure the antenna mount is grounded and the unit must be for power.
