Fender mount antenna...
So about 2.5 years ago I took realjeep's advice (read his long thread....very informative) and decided to mount a CB antenna up front. Plus I didn't want to dyck around having to grind powdercoat off brackets, dealing with never ending grounding issues that seem more apparent when mounting antennas in the rear based on the countless threads, etc. Plus I like it mounted up front because I can tell right away if it's going to hit something or not.
Bought the mount from "Right Channel Radios" for around $20 I think....they're $28 now. Great bracket. Very sturdy and has held up well. No issues with reception or transmission.

Also bought the bracket mount for the Cobra 75 that attaches to the existing bolt/screw on the passenger grab bar. Bought the firestik quick-disconnect (for the low parking garages), firering cable, Cobra 75, and firestik antenna through Amazon.
Used the Quadratec harness to tap into the lighter...

Never got around to posting pics so here they are now for anyone that's interested. Used existing bolt/bolt hole just under the hood on top of the fender. Could possibly move further back towards/closer to the radio antenna or maybe even on the driver's side but I'm satisfied as-is so just left it where it sits now....

I don't recall there being any loss in FM signal or interference but then again I hardly ever listen to the radio
If I'm on the trail or in a highway convoy and have the CB on, I usually have satellite radio on or I'm listening to tunes copied to the radio's built in hard drive and/or iPod.

Coax
Maybe it's just me and my old eyes, but I can't see the coax cable running from the bottom side of the hood mount and into the engine compartment. Would you please post a close up photo of that detail? Many thanks !

Pretty hard to see from far away because the Firering gives it that low profile right angle connection to the antenna. I used the 18' Firering coax MU-8R18. Amazon has it for $24.

Nice! If I ever get a HAM license/radio, I'm going to mount it's antenna on the driver's side exactly the way you have it. I do need to drill the hood seam and mount a 2nd bolt to my bracket. It's been good so far but just in case...

I used this bracket,CATALOG Main Page (Frame Setup) Jeep Hood Channel, 2 X 2 hole brackets from a hardware store then drilled and tapped the jeep.
