I mounted my Yaesu FT-8800R to a flat metal plate under the front passenger seat, held on by binder clips! Ran the remote head unit cable up and across a channel in the roof frame accessible with the freedom tops off. Then attached it to the top of my visor with velcro.
Puts the head unit in the perfect place for visibility and operation with the visor up. If I need the visor down I just put it down.

That's a great idea with the visor! I think I'm gonna have to do that since I no longer have the free spot above my rearview mirror because of the SPOD switch bank.

I just caught the additional posts in this thread. I believed he used this one: <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=661980"/> <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=661981"/> ...which is very similar to the one I purchased. .

I just put this one on. No drilling required from Right Channel Radios:

Yup. That's the same one I use which is currently used for the CB. The Diamond antenna is being used with a Diamond mount which is similar to the Comet mount I think you were using before..
