FTM-400DR finally installed!!!
After a lot of looking and researching, I finally finalized my installation. Don't look too closely as my poor Rubi is filthy inside and out due to the weather here in central Arkansas and living on a dirt road!!
I mounted the head unit using double sided tape in the dash tray. I did this temporarily at first, but it is amazing solid...
I used a lip clamp NMO mount to mount my SBB-5 antenna on the right side of the tailgate....which swings clear of the rear window with the tailgate open. Transmits and receives well with an SWR of 1.2 on 2 meter and 1.25 on 70cm.
I mounted the radio itself under the driver's seat and concealed all of the wiring under the console and dash. With the built in speaker facing up, an external speaker wasn't needed.
And, finally made a cable to remote mount the mic.
I'm extremely happy with this radio and, as a Tech class novice, I'm learning a lot.
Thanks
Steve
