Cool Limited Capability

I have Cobra 38 WX ST, which is a very good handheld CB. That being said, it has limited range and capabilities and is not all that easy to use on a rough trails. It uses six AA batteries and a "rubber-ducky" antenna which must be in the vertical position for best transmission range. So - to increase range I bought a mag-mount antenna and mounted it on the hood, then came the 12V power adapter and the microphone and speaker and by the time I was done I had a cabin full of various wires and a CB that still didn't perform all that well. So - I went back to a Cobra 75 WX ST which I had installed on my previous three Jeeps. BTW, the handheld with all of the accessories I have costs more that the 75 WX ST. It's something to think about.

The 75wx is a good choice. I have the midland hand held and it just not quite there. It's a back up for me, and I never use it because the range is limited

We use a Midland 75-822 and a magnetic mount 4 foot S/S Radio Shack antenna on our KJ and for trail use it worked really well.
Now that we own a JKU I'll have to fabricate a bracket so I can get it to magnetically "stick" to our vehicle as I don't want to just
plop it on the hood!
We also have a VHF/UHF dual band that still needs a home as I'm wondering where to install the main radio unit. It has a remote
face plate that mounted via goose neck under the passengers seat bolt.
