Default Rolled steel for cb antenna mount?

Hello Everyone,

I see that the commercially manufactured antenna mounts are often made from stainless steel. Others are steel with power coating and they ask that you scrape some of the coating off for metal to metal contact.

I am wanting to fabricate my own mount and I have plenty of rolled steel in the garage to make one. From a performance standpoint, does it make a difference what metal is actually used?

Thank you for the help,

Dale

So long as you have a good ground from the antenna base to the body, I think you'll be good.
