Default 2013 JKU - Where the *F* is the compass module

So I have a 2013 JKU. Last year it had to have the heater core and radiator replaced so the dealer pulled the dash among other things.

Noticed that the compass in the dashboard is pointing 180 degrees off. When I am heading East, it says West. The GPS is correct. Calibrating it is of no use.

I pulled the upper dash panel and there is no compass module above the radio.

So the big question is WHERE THE *F* is the compass module on a 2013 JKU?

Thanks!

I just read that is to the right of the radio, between the radio and pass. airbag.

Just took it apart again. In that spot is a little black box with a couple barcodes and the following numbers labeled on it
  • 28322534
  • 30505V
  • 253423470545
  • (P)68138715AA
  • 3435 A
  • 0003 3472

If that's it, I can't figure out how to get it out (can't see any fasteners but don't want to break anything) and also how it could possibly be in backwards if the labels are facing me and right side up.

UGH!

OK this instruction booklet shows the location on page 15:

It's really close to the airbag so the dealer is gonna have to fix it. I am not pulling that apart - it happened when they replaced the heater core so let them fix it!

I know this is an old thread, but I was searching for this same info. For anyone worried about airbag connections etc, it is possible once you have loosened the top bolt under the trim and removed the 2 bolts to the far sides of the top of the glovebox, to pull back the airbag/trim a llittle, to access the compass - without having to remove the trim completely, or disconnect the airbag wires

My JK's compass stopped working when i changed the stereo, because it was built in to it. There wa just an empty space and the cable in a holder, waiting for me to fit the module there.
Pro-tip, if you started off with no compass, you wont have the bolts for it. Its easily secured if pushed in properly and double sided taped down.
