Default AVIC-8000NEX - Install Help Needed

Good day everyone. Newbie at the head unit install. Looking for a little help/guidance.

So I've purchased the Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX with the Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit. I've screwed them in to each side and for some reason I can't seem to get the HU to fit in properly. Are there any mods I need to make to the sub-dash or even the dash itself. Any help is truly appreciated.

Thanks.

You will likely have to cut out some of the dash in the back depending in what year. I had to remove the metal in the back of my dash for my kenwood to fit.

Thanks for the quick reply. That metal harness/bracket in the back, did you remove it completely or hack away at it with a dremmel tool? And the jeep is a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. The Metra Dash kit seems to be hitting the top of the sub-dash. Pics coming in a few.

The brown plastic piece going across is impeding the smooth install of the HU with the Metra Dash Kit.

Can you flip the kit and switch sides?

I tired and it doesn't screw into the HU properly. I think I'm going to dremel a little bit of the plastic off the dash kit. I don't want to mess with the integrity of the actual sub-dash itself. Glad I'm learning as I go but man is this ever disheartening. Gotta keep telling myself it'll be worth it in the end.

I had to dream ill the bottom lip of the plastic piece where your box is for a pioneer avh 8500 (forget the model # exactly). Fit perfect after. I made sure to keep as much plastic as I could on the middle plastic piece

I installed the 7000NEX recently, the unit is very similar. The Metra kit did not align with the radio screw holes either so i had to gently force the screws to go in. I also removed the metal bracket that supports the stock radio. I would not recommend dremeling it out.
