DIY backup camera mounting with external monitor
So the reason why I use external monitor is because in the country where I live,
finding lockpick or any other integration modules is almost impossible.
Anyway, the monitor and reverse camera are really cheap.
Found them in a local online market for $36 (for both)
The location of choice is behind the spare tyre..
Again, aftermarket products for camera mounts are hard to find,
so I happened to find some machined aluminum piece laying around in my workshop,
which fits the space inside the spare tyre with a little bit of modifications.
Drilled a couple of holes on the spare tyre mounting. It's made of soft alloy which is very easy to drill.
Then the aluminum piece is bolted into the holes
Run the wires through the existing wire lines and into the back of the sub,
connect them with the reverse light cables..
And through the bullbar sleeves all the way to the overhead sunshade panel..
I used some gopro arms and mounting as the monitor happens to have the gopro-compatible mounting..
It gives the advantage of adjustability..
Tada! Now I can safely reverse the car with minimal risk of running into my daughter's coupe.. Lol..
