Default Installed new JBL MS-62c Components

IMO, the upgraded Alpine speakers are a joke. I replaced the fronts and sound bar speakers with Kickers 77KICK10 and they were a waste of money coming from the Alpines, they provided very little improvement and the mid bass was very lacking. I'm sure there would be a dramatic improvement if you had standard speakers. I also tried out the capacitor mod on the tweets, there was only a slight improvement, in hind sight, not worth the time or the $5.00.

Head Unit: Pioneer Avic 7000NEX
Coming Soon: JL Stealthbox & Alpine PDX-V9 5 channels

The speaker box opening was just a tad small for the JBLs so I made the spacers using 3/4" MDF and a router, using a stock speaker as a guide (got his idea from a post on DIYMA), then they received a coat of truck bed liner. I applied a bead of silicon before mounting them to the boxes using the factory mounting holes.

These components gave me instant gratification. I'm not an audiophile but do appreciate good sound. The mid bass is preset and the highs are soft but clear, the components blends with the sub very well, bass is no longer directional.

I removed the stock tweeters, filed down the pods opening just a little bit, and the new tweeter mounting cups fit very nicely and very snug, no mounting hardware necessary. Fortunately, I did not have to remove the tweeters panel as I'm told you would have to remove quite a bit of the dash parts to get that panel out as the later models are one piece.

The crossovers were mounted on the side in the foot well areas, the locations were perfect.
