So what all would I need if I wanted to buy a cheap single din aftermarket radio (but something that sounds better than the stock head unit) to run off of, and then control it all with the ipad mini, keeping XM, AM/FM, CD, and steering wheel functions?
Does the ipad just function as a source like a tv, and outputs the sound through the radio (like an a/v amp) and from the radio out to the speakers?
If this is the case, and I wanted to get a cheaper single din for better sound, how do I keep my XM funcionality?

With that setup you can control the volume and source from the steering wheel. There are also ipad apps for XM radio. While am/fm radio will be functional, and the source and stations can be controlled with the steering wheel controls, you won't want to listen to it any more after having crystal clear internet or sat radio. There are some fm radio apps available, but they don't have every station.

I've searched and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for but is there anyone that makes a dash mount for the 2007-2010 models? Not something to just mount the ipad but something to take the place of the head unit kinda like the one that angryoffroad makes.
