Default Re-crimp winch power wires

Any suggestions on the best way to re-crimp the battery terminals on my winch wires? Do I just crimp? Or solder? What tool to make the crimp?

Thanks
Steve

solder is easier but they do make crimping tools for the large copper battery lugs they are expencive tho.

I stopped soldering high-draw terminals because they can come loose if they heat up. (I had it happen.)

Use a proper crimping tool. You can't beat a good, mechanically strong, crimped wire/terminal joint.
Search for crimping tool. I use the one that can be used in a press. It can also be used with a 4 lb. mallet, though. Index marks on the die indicate how far to crimp, based on wire gauge.

No problem. One set of cables and those crimpers pay for themselves. Plus I have gotten a bit of labor from people wanting there wiring upgraded. If somebody is gonna replace my steering box and help install bumpers, who am I to argue.

I bought this one when I did my Big 3 upgrade a while back and haven't had any problems with it. Does the trick and for only $50 not bad on the price. Have used it many times over the past couple of years for various projects with no issues. Also have loaned it out to friends as well, so it's seem some use.
