Although I don't use it much, nice to have Maps on the HU without having to pay for NAV. Also nice to have ability for HU to read text messages and respond. Music interface is solid although the cover art is dark. You can see cover art at night, but sun glare makes it hard to see with the top off.

Finally figured out how to toggle between CarPlay and the AM/FM radio by clicking the "mode" key. It would be nice to have the ability to select radio right on the CarPlay screen without having to choose NEX, then navigate through native UI but maybe Apple will fix that down the road. I guess if you think about it, CarPlay is just an app running on top of the native UI, so it makes sense that "Mode" toggles between the two.

I just put my hard top on for the winter last night so I will have to see how effective Siri is.

It's that time again. Testing out some new woofers. I'm using Sundown SD-2 10" subs under each of my from seats today. They are mounted in .5 cu ft boxes and powered by 500w each. Just received two of the new SD-3 10" subs today. These are a completely redesigned low profile subwoofer. The new underhung design is supposed to reduce distortion and increase low-end output in the same size small box. Just because I was making another batch of woofer boxes, I decided to make an extra set of boxes for these new woofers. My newest box design has a little more internal volume, around .6 cu ft but is lower profile than before. Hope to have these done next week to test them out.

Just got the boxes back from Line-X, I have carpeted these boxes in the past so I thought I'd try something new. I think they look pretty clean. The Line-X adds some mass and about an 1/8" over all the surfaces. These are definitely water-resistant.

Got it finished up today. Just need to dial things in but these new Sundown SD-3s are pretty impressive. Much belter low end. Very surprising for a shallow 10". Need to sell my old ones now... Click image for larger version

Default Any Future Revisions?

Great job giving us a lot of details. I'm thinking of copying a lot of what you have done. Is there anything you would change or do differently? It looks like you are on Revision #3 now. Is there a round #4 in the works?

No, haha. I feel like I finally have it good enough to really just enjoy it. Just been helping local friends with their Jeeps this summer.

I couple new things to look at and listen to when you are putting your sound system together...

I've been impressed with a couple sets of the Hertz speakers. I've done a couple systems with the D and the H series. They sound really great.

Also, the last couple Jeeps I've used the PPI 900.4 amp. I'm really impressed with the sound quality and price per watt. Great amp for the price.

I still haven't gotten around to installing the sub I bought from you. I am targeting next weekend. I wish I had followed your advice and gone with the rf punch amps so that I could fit under the dashboard. Instead I needed to build a stealth box for under the drivers seat to hold everything.
